If you have been thinking about buying an Apple iPad, today is the day.

The hugely-popular tablet has been slashed in the latest round of Black Friday sales.

Apple is also offering its own deal on the iPad available in-store, as well as online.

The Californian technology firm is handing out gift cards worth up to £120 with the purchase of select Apple products, with £80 on offer to anyone who plumps for an iPad Pro in the sales.

Meanwhile, other high street retailers are discounting money from the iPad itself for Black Friday.

For those who don't know, Black Friday is an annual one-day sales event that originated in the United States and traditionally follows Thanksgiving Day – the fourth Thursday of November.

Black Friday – so called because it allows high street stores to get out of the red and "into the black", thanks to the profits made during the sales – sees retailers slash prices in-store and online to capitalise on the holiday shopping rush.
